Foundation “For Our Children” 2013
Dear friends,
Thanks to your loyal support for the trademark Happy Junior, the team of Kompas Ltd. has had the opportunity already for four years to support the cause of the Foundation “For Our Children” not one single child to grow up lonely in the institutional homes. In the last 2013 year through our common project we helped 24 children to find their foster parents, we saved 53 babies from abandonment and provided material support for 113 families in the lowest income bracket. The social workers of the foundation organized 14 art workshops and children’s parties for foster children and children in institutions, for 15 children medications were bought and medical care was provided, because of inability for the parents to pay for these. For the babies from Institutional Nursery “St. Sofia” every week various performances and plays with volunteers were organized, so they could get to know the life and the world outside of institutions. The team of the foundation is telling us more about what is happening:
„Through our common project with Kompas company, we kept on providing family support, aimed at improvement of extremely poor living conditions and compensation for lack of income for children and families, support for mothers, doubting in their fitness to take care of their newborn babies and help for parents, whose first little ones are born with serious disabilities. We supported actively the foster families who already adopted children, as well as those who were expecting the child in need soon to become part of the family. The pinpoint and the dynamics of our work were also directed towards continuous support for children with special needs and their families, because the number of newborn babies with disabilities is increasing.”
As usual, in the year 2013 the teams on abandonment prevention and foster care of the foundation “For Our Children” kept on working 24/7 and respond to calls from the six biggest Maternity wards in the cities of Sofia and Plovdiv about mothers, determined to abandon their children. They managed to solidify the image of the foundation as an effective and reliable partner in dealing with hospitals, state institutions and families, expecting their own newborn or a foster child in their homes. In the last two months the teams in Sofia achieved 100% success and not one child was left in social institutions. Here is their gratitude:
